While this is a free service for PIA members, it requires some extra setup. You actually have a different username and password then you do with the normal VPN. I gave up on shadowsocks and installed OpenVPN for Android, which has a proxy setting in the app. After setting it all up and configuring it, everything connected,  I have the PIA proxy setup through my torrent client for downloading linux distros. always recommend using our program in place of the SOCKS5 configuration
